Roma eyeing Udinese striker Keinan Davis as Malen back-upRoma eyeing Udinese striker Keinan Davis as Malen back-up

Roma’s transfer market is entering a particularly heated phase, with the Giallorossi club engaged on multiple fronts, including incoming negotiations and financial and administrative matters yet to be resolved.

Sporting director Tony D’Amico is working to definitively close the settlement agreement, with the June 30th deadline rapidly approaching and considered a crucial step in future planning.

On a technical level, however, attention is primarily focused on the attack, where Greenwood is the top priority for both Gasperini and the management.

A series of broader evaluations are underway around him, involving various profiles being explored, from the attacking midfield to the search for a possible backup to Malen, a role deemed crucial to completing the attack.

It’s precisely in this context, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, that the name of Keinan Davis, Udinese’s center forward, who could leave Friuli in the coming weeks, comes into play.

The English striker, born in 1998, finished last season with 10 goals in 30 appearances, along with four assists, stats that make him a solid option to strengthen the squad.

Dybala’s renewal only a matter of time, Roma optimisticDybala’s renewal only a matter of time, Roma optimistic

The arrival of Tony D’Amico could represent a turning point in the negotiations for Paulo Dybala’s contract renewal.

The Argentine’s contract expires in just nine days, and Roma must speed up the process to prevent the situation from dragging on further.

According to Il Tempo, the appointment of the new sporting director will allow the club to accelerate negotiations.

D’Amico will be able to directly support the owners in negotiations, personally handling one of the most important issues on the table for the Giallorossi. Optimism is filtering through from both sides, and it seems only a matter of time.

The shared desire remains to move forward together, even if the decisive step towards a final agreement is still missing.

The player’s entourage is waiting for Roma to schedule an official meeting to enter the final phase of negotiations.

D’Amico will take up his new office at the beginning of the week, and Dybala’s contract renewal will inevitably be among the first matters to be addressed.

His presence will facilitate discussions and provide direct support to the owners in finalizing the final contractual details.

However, time is running out: the deadline is ever-closer, and Roma will need to transform the optimism of the last few hours into a concrete agreement.

Tottenham intend to begin renewal talks with Barcelona defensive target – reportTottenham intend to begin renewal talks with Barcelona defensive target – report

The centre-back position has been a top target for Barcelona for a while now, and several players have been linked as possible targets.

One such player is Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven who is currently on duty with the Netherlands national team at the FIFA World Cup.

Having come very close to relegation, Spurs are looking for a complete revolution this summer, but their players have also become a target for other top European clubs owing to their situation.

The Premier League side, however, have actively denied the possibility of van de Ven leaving this summer as of earlier this week.

Talks for a renewal

As relayed by Ben Jacobs in a recent report, Tottenham are now planning to initiate contract renewal talks with the centre-back amidst all the noise around his future.

They see talks and a possible renewal as the best foot to put forward at this point in time to make a firm stand on their plans.

The 25-year-old defender’s current contract with the English side runs until the summer of 2029, and is already a relatively long-term deal on that front.

Any further extension at this point will thus completely close the door to a departure and force Barcelona to explore alternative options.

Major competitors exit the race

The English journalist also furthers that Liverpool, who were also rumoured to be pursuing the player and eyeing him as a top defensive target, currently have no plans of going after him this summer.

Barcelona, thus, stand as the biggest candidate interested in landing the player with significantly less competition than before. The big hurdle, however, is convincing Tottenham to make the sale.

Last season, the Dutchman made 35 league appearances for his club with four goals and an assist to his name. He averaged over eight defensive actions per game and oversaw eight clean sheets in the competition.

He has also played all ninety minutes in both of his nation’s games in the ongoing FIFA World Cup and is an integral component of the team’s plans.

If Barcelona are to continue to see him as a priority target, intercepting the renewal talks and ensuring it does not go through will be crucial.

€100m won’t be enough to land Liverpool targetReport: €100m won’t be enough to land Liverpool targetLiverpool and Diomande: Why €100m May Only Be the StartLiverpool Push Hard for Diomande

Credit to The Athletic for the original information on Liverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande, a transfer story that has quickly become one of the defining sagas of the summer window.

The 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger is currently at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, yet his club future is already being argued over in boardrooms across Europe. Paris Saint-Germain remain interested, while Liverpool are said to be making the strongest attempt to sign him.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool’s second proposal approached €100million, yet Leipzig did not consider that enough. That feels staggering at first glance, especially for a player still short of 50 top-flight appearances. Then you look closer, and the logic begins to form.

Leipzig’s Valuation Has Logic

Diomande’s rise has been extraordinary. From the United Premier Soccer League in the United States, to Leganes, to RB Leipzig, to a €100million Liverpool proposal in just 24 months, this is not a normal career curve.

The Athletic’s analysis captures that acceleration neatly: “He is ahead of schedule.” Leipzig expected him to reach this sort of value eventually, but not this quickly.

Their confidence now looks justified. As the article notes, “Leipzig are now being rewarded for their decisiveness.” They moved early when others waited for more evidence. Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and others were all aware of the player, but Leipzig acted before the market hardened.

Bundesliga Form Changed Everything

Diomande did not spend his debut Bundesliga season quietly adapting. He delivered 12 goals and eight assists, producing 20 goal involvements and being named the division’s young player of the season.

Photo IMAGO

That changes the conversation. He became, in The Athletic’s words, one of the Bundesliga’s “difference makers.” Leipzig needed him to help them return to the Champions League, and after finishing third, they now have both sporting security and financial strength.

That explains why a €100million offer no longer settles the matter. The asking price has moved closer to €130million because Leipzig do not need to blink.

Market Forces Shape Liverpool Decision

For Liverpool, this is where ambition meets discomfort. Diomande will not turn 20 until November, but The Athletic rightly observes that “as the World Cup is showing, he is already a mainstream talent.”

That is the modern market. Clubs are not paying only for proven output, they are paying for control of the next great player before someone else owns the story.

The most telling line from the report is also the simplest: “To sign a top player who is under contract, clubs now have to reach beyond €100million.”

Liverpool know this. Recent deals for Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak show that elite attacking talent now lives in a different financial universe.

Diomande may still carry risk, but risk is unavoidable when the prize is this large. If Liverpool believe he can become one of Europe’s defining wide forwards, then Leipzig’s price becomes less a warning sign and more a market reality.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, this report is fascinating because it asks the uncomfortable question every elite club now faces, when does expensive become necessary?

Diomande is not a safe, tidy, sensible signing. He is explosive, raw in terms of experience, and already priced like a finished superstar. That makes the stomach tighten. Liverpool fans have seen enough transfer sagas to know that potential can be expensive, and hype can be cruel.

Yet there is something about this one that feels different. His numbers in Germany are serious. Twelve goals and eight assists as a teenager in the Bundesliga is not social media noise. That is production. Add his pace, his one-v-one threat and his capacity to turn tight games, and you understand why Liverpool would keep pushing.

The concern is whether the fee leaves room for patience. At €130million, every quiet half becomes a talking point. Every missed chance becomes a headline. Every comparison becomes louder.

Still, Liverpool cannot want the best young attackers in world football and then be shocked when they cost best young attacker money. If Diomande is genuinely the club’s preferred target, this may be the moment to trust the scouting, trust the conviction and act before someone else does.

Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima celebrated and danced with the Curaçao team at the end of a World Cup double shift on Saturday to watch all of their subjects in action.

The royal couple first attended the mid-day kick-off in Houston where the Netherlands trounced Sweden 5-1. A few hours later they were in in Kansas City for Curaçao fight to a surprise 0-0 draw against Ecuador.

As king of Netherlands, Willem-Alexander is also the head of state of the countries which are part of the kingdom, which includes Curaçao.

The royals wore the team colours at both visits, the traditional orange for the Dutch game and then Curaçao's blue.

A a video posted by the Curaçao FA showed them dance and celebrate with the team in the dressing room after the match.

"It is a very special World Cup because we have the Netherlands and Curaçao. So we have double the amount of teams we can cheer on," Willem-Alexcander told broadcasters RTL.

He added that he "of course hopes that both can go far" in the tournament.

The Dutch took a big step towards the knock-out stages ahead of their final group game against Tunisia. Curaçao can also advance, for which they would need to beat Ivory Coast.

The royals had watched the first Dutch World Cup match earlier this week, a 2-2 draw with Japan, together with Japan's imperial couple of Emporer Naruhito and Empress Masako who were on a state visit to the Netherlands at the time.

The Dutch extended their lead early in the second half. Dumfries was again the creator, fizzing a low ball across goal for an unmarked Gakpo to knock home at the far post.

The Liverpool star then grabbed a brace of his own, finishing off a rapid counter-attack by cutting inside his defender and lashing home a low shot.

Japan send Tunisia packing

Saturday’s final match brought a big win for Japan that ensures Tunisia will not make it past the group stage of World Cup 2026. Another player who wore No. 71 for the Detroit Red Wings is making big news with the move he’s making in the hockey world this offseason.

While captain Dylan Larkin is seeking a hockey future away from his hometown of Detroit, former Red Wings defenseman Jiri Slegr is making what he hopes will be a triumphant return to his old hockey home.

Stepping down from his role as GM of the Czech national team, Slegr is taking over as a co-owner of Litvinov, his old club in the Czech Extraliga.

“The negotiations weren’t easy,” Slegr told Czech website hokej.cz. “Even as an eternal optimist, I didn’t see it working out. But in the end, we managed to find common ground.

“When I think about how much work went into it, what we had to go through… We reached the finish line on time. I’m so happy for everyone, even though we have everything ahead of us.”

The Red Wings acquired Slegr at the NHL trade deadline during the 2001-02 season. The defenseman wore his usual No. 71 and would help Detroit win the Stanley Cup that spring.

Another Former Red Wings Player is Helping Out

Although he’s not officially part of the new ownership group, there’s another person familiar to Red Wings fans who is also helping to get Litvinov pointed in the right direction.

Former Detroit center Robert Lang is serving as a consultant and a silent partner. He’s working alongside Slegr and others who’ve taken over the team. Lang was a Red Wings player from 2004 to 2007.

“He has always been here with us,” Slegr said. “He just lives in America, so he can’t help us directly. But he’s been interested in it all the time. He even has a sister who works at (team sponsor) Unipetrol. He certainly has an overview.

“Coincidentally, I’ve spoken to him twice now. We’re in touch. He asks questions, he’s interested. It’s important to us that a guy like that does care.

“It’s just like (former NHL forward) Martin Ručinský, who lives in Prague, has his own pub. But he says he’ll help whenever he can. It’s not about positions, but about the help.

“We’d like to involve the guys in it.”

World Cup Setback For Gyokeres As Netherlands Hit Sweden For FiveWorld Cup Setback For Gyokeres As Netherlands Hit Sweden For Five

Viktor Gyokeres and Sweden suffered their first defeat of the 2026 World Cup as the Netherlands produced a ruthless display to secure a 5-1 victory and move to the top of Group F.

After opening their campaign with an impressive 5-1 win over Tunisia, Sweden travelled to Houston knowing another positive result would put them in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages. Instead, they were overwhelmed by a Dutch side inspired by Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo.

Dutch Double Acts Leave Sweden Chasing Shadows

Sweden found themselves behind inside five minutes when Brian Brobbey powered home Cody Gakpo’s inviting cross to give the Netherlands the perfect start.

The Dutch striker doubled both his tally and his side’s advantage just 12 minutes later, sliding in to convert a dangerous Denzel Dumfries delivery.

Graham Potter’s side responded positively and thought they had pulled a goal back before half-time, only for Gustaf Lagerbielke’s effort to be ruled out for offside.

Any hopes of a Swedish comeback were effectively ended shortly after the restart.

Gakpo followed up his earlier assist with two goals in seven devastating minutes, first finishing from close range before producing a trademark strike from the edge of the area to make it 4-0.

Anthony Elanga briefly reduced the deficit with an excellent breakaway finish, but Crysencio Summerville added a late fifth to complete a dominant Dutch performance.

Frustrating Afternoon For Gyokeres

After finding the net in Sweden’s opening 5-1 victory over Tunisia, Gyokeres was unable to make a similar impact against much stronger opposition.

The Arsenal striker was largely starved of service as the Netherlands controlled possession and repeatedly exposed Sweden’s defensive weaknesses.

While Sweden did create some opportunities, they spent long periods chasing the game following Brobbey’s early brace and struggled to build sustained pressure on the Dutch back line.

It was a rare off day for Gyokeres, who entered the tournament in excellent form and remains one of Sweden’s key hopes heading into their final group fixture.

Qualification Still In Sweden’s Hands

Despite the heavy defeat, Sweden remain well placed to reach the knockout stages.

The result leaves them second in Group F on three points, one behind the Netherlands, with their qualification fate still firmly in their own hands heading into the final round of group matches.

For Arsenal supporters, attention will now turn to how Gyokeres responds.

The 28-year-old has already shown his quality on the World Cup stage, and Sweden will need their star striker back at his best if they are to extend their stay in the tournament.

Can Viktor Gyokeres help Sweden bounce back and reach the knockout stages, Gooners? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Roma prepare new formula for Greenwood signingRoma prepare new formula for Greenwood signing

Roma’s transfer market is about to kick off.

With less than two weeks to go until the summer transfer window opens, new sporting director Tony D’Amico wants to make a move immediately and give Gasperini a Champions League-caliber signing.

The hot name, as is now well known, is Mason Greenwood.

The Marseille playmaker will leave the French club this summer, and the Roman club has repeatedly made it clear they’ve put him at the top of their list to strengthen their attacking line.

Gian Piero Gasperini has asked the Friedkins to make an effort to bring the former Man United player to Trigoria, and the owners appear to have granted this request.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the American family is reportedly ready to agree to a new purchase formula: a full payment plan to circumvent the restrictions imposed by UEFA and Financial Fair Play.

In the background, the Moreira and Molina options remain unrelenting. Strasbourg is unwavering in its bid for the former and continues to demand at least €40 million to release him. The Atlético Madrid full-back, however, could leave Spain on significantly more favorable terms.

The NFL offseason is essentially over. After most teams wrapped up minicamps last week, the next stop on the NFL calendar is training camp. Training camp usually begins sometime in the third week of July. The Washington Commanders wrapped up their minicamp on Thursday.

It was a productive offseason for Washington. Of course, the other 31 NFL teams would say the same thing. General manager Adam Peters began overhauling the roster in March, with a special emphasis on the defense. Peters was aggressive in trying to land a wide receiver, too, making a serious play for Alec Pierce, who chose to stay with the Colts.

Peters also attempted to sign Romeo Doubs, but he signed with the Jets. Peters eventually brought back Dyami Brown after one season in Jacksonville and signed veteran Van Jefferson to a one-year deal. The Commanders also re-signed former Titans first-round pick Treylon Burks.

Throughout the offseason, Washington has been linked to 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk. Of course, Aiyuk is still with San Francisco. The Commanders have also been linked to four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs.

Is Washington waiting on Aiyuk? That's what almost everyone thinks. In minicamp last week, an observation from Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic did not paint a promising picture of the receivers.

The Commanders didn’t do much to placate any concerns about their pass catchers Tuesday. Quinn spread the team out across two fields for 11-on-11 drills to give the players who received fewer reps more time. But the results on both fields were … not great. Drop after drop after drop from the receivers and tight ends — all while Brandon Aiyuk continued to post subliminal messages on social media amid his feud with the 49ers.

This is not ideal. It's worth noting that head coach Dan Quinn and his staff used last week to test out Washington's depth across the roster. So, perhaps, some of those drops were by players who may not even make the Commanders' 53-man roster. On the other hand, "drop after drop after drop" is not what you want to hear one month from training camp.

No one knows Washington's true intentions. It's possible that they don't perceive wide receiver to be as significant a need as others believe. We'll find out soon enough.

The good news is that the Commanders have plenty of money remaining ($43.7 million) to make a significant move.
